our story
Heirloom Heather started as a small- scale Flower Farm in 2021.
Our primary flower farm calls Pickering, Ontario home, with two delightful expansions in the Durham Region. We are passionately committed to sustainable farming, embracing organic methods and nurturing our beautiful land with care.
We advocate for low waste and strive to be as eco-conscious as possible in our farm decisions. We're always diving into the latest on soil health, minimal tilling, and regenerative farming practices.
Behind the seeds
Sowing the seeds that will turn into beautiful flowers.
Meet Heather, the magic behind the farm.
Hey there, I'm Heather, the green-thumbed guru behind Heirloom Heather Flower Farm in picturesque Pickering! At our farm, we're all about nurturing top-notch blooms while keeping it eco-friendly.

From the outset, our mission has been to grow flowers that nurture the ecosystem and everything within it. We’re committed to steering clear of chemical sprays on our blooms, opting instead for pollinator-friendly plants that enrich the life around our farm while promoting healthy soil.
When we ventured into flower design, we knew we wanted to focus on reusing and repurposing, becoming the go-to destination for eco-conscious couples seeking their wedding flowers.
our why
We want to grow flowers that help the eco-system.
Our farm favourites
why we choose to farm Regeneratively
-
Soil blocking & Upcycling
By cutting down the amount of plastic we buy, we cut down the amount that would end up in a land fill.
Switching to soil blocking not only creates a healthier plant, but a healthier earth too.
-
Compostable Packaging
We worked really hard this past year to make sure our bouquet are now 100% compostable.
We use ink made of plants, from spray-free blooms and shreddable Kraft so you can feel good that you can add your flowers to the compost bin after you’ve enjoyed them. -
Worm Farm
Not only do we farm flowers but we also tend and care for a little worm farm. Their valuable casting make the compost tea that feed the flowers, and helps close the circle with bringing in compost.
-
Re-usable Farming Supports
Instead of buying in single use plastics, we have invested in long lasting metal trellis and plant supports.
-
Foam-Free Designs
While designing event work and building installations we opt to use re-usable and bio-degradable mechanics. We do not use flower foam as it breaks down into micro-plastics.
-
Soil Health & Bio-Diversity
We decided the first year we wanted to focus on the health of the soil, using low-tillage and natural weed suppression. We very sparingly will use landscape fabric on path ways and hand-weed the rest.
We are no-spray, and like to observe the cycle of pests for a natural control. Focusing on companion planting and native plants helps attract the beneficials and helps keep the balance.
